CHELSEA TEDDY BEAR MUSEUM'S
SPECIAL MARCH 28TH CELEBRATION DAY!
Chelsea Teddy Bear Museum's Curator, Ken Yenke and Museum Display Creator, Brenda Yenke will make a personal appearance at the Museum on March 28th. This promises to be an unforgettable day for all those who attend this free event. Ken will bring two of the rarest toys in the world to show and talk about, and after the Noon to 3pm appraisal hours, the two toys will be permanently added to the wonderful Chelsea Museum Display.
The first item is one of the rarest Steiff teddy bears, made in 1903-1904. It is called the Rod bear, because it has iron rods inside the body which serve as joints for its arms and legs. Only by taking an X-ray can we see the placement of these rods...and we have the X-ray! Less than two dozen of these bears are known to exist in collections and museums around the world. The bear was acquired from England, and was used as the model for one of the original
Steiff history books.
The second item is even rarer......an original "Teddy Bull Moose"20made by E.I.Horsman Co. in 1912. This toy made to accompany Teddy Roosevelt during his 1912 Presidential campaign when he was the 3rd party, Bull Moose Candidate. This Bull Moose is the only one known to exist that is complete with its original leather collar and patriotic ribbon which reads "Teddy Bull Moose." This cute Moose is worth the trip to the Museum!
And of course, Ken Yenke, an antiques generalist and world renowned toy expert will be providing free evaluations of items brought in by visitors. Please bring only one or two items per person. Bring a photo of an item if it is too large to carry in. Copies of Ken Yenke's books autographing his books which are available at the museum. This will be a fun day for the whole family! Something special for everyone!
